... A memory of the old Sergeant and Geoffrey Bennet.
Captain G H "Tuppy" Bennet, a vet and the leading amateur jockey rode "Sergeant Murphy" to victory in 1923. He died as a result of a fall later in the same year. In 1922 "Sergeant Murphy" finished the course ridden with one rein. The race depicted is that of 1926. The winner, Jack Horner, is second from the left.
